What size do you find you fish with the most? I seem to fish a size 14 on a regular style shenk hook. I wrap lead on the shenk for weight in clearer or lower water. For higher stained water I use a gold bead, but I’m going to tie some with copper beads for Spring to see how they work.

The answer depends on the time of year and water conditions. I like to tie the head with slightly darker rabbit fur.
Most of the time I use them the water is high and off color and fish an 8 or 10. Always weighted and usually with a bead

I agree that it depends on the water, but weight is important and color maybe less so if the water is a bit turbid. I like to put a WW size 10 on then add a bead head a foot or so above. And take time to add or subtract weight as you encounter deeper, shallower, faster, slower, etc. conditions. One size (weight) doesn’t fit all! And my old eyes now require an indicator floaty, also needing adjustments as per conditions.
