The weather is breaking (unless its all a lie). I see “nothing but blue skies from now on” ! At least afternoon temps over 40 degrees beginning Monday, March 9th. Now if the snow melt doesn’t screw things up we should see bugs and trout rising! Look for EBS, midges and olives.

I can’t wait. This has been a loooooooooooooong winter. You can only do so much reading, and I had my necessary flies tied early. I am ready to get outside without having to fight the weather.

I fished from 2 til 3:30PM. Found one nice trout rising to midges. Worked my way down a steep snowy bank (with my recuperating knee) to get into position…and he took my size 24 midge! A dandy 16″ male! It was tough getting back up through the knee deep drifts and over the plow bank, but it was well worth it.
I’ll give another look tomorrow…and every day it’s over 40 degrees.
